Uninvited guests for tonight

Oct. 29, 2011 - Orlando, FL - Dusk time - twilight! A huge flock of big size birds are struggling just at these moments to find space for tonight on the top of our oak trees canopies. Maybe 50 or even more. the sky are covered with flipping noisy wings, large wingspans, desperately looking for landing space. Never ever did I see such gathering in my yard!
they are too heavy to land on the trees and slips all the time, all branches are leaning down heavily. The trees acorns are falling like heavy hail. There's really no room on our trees for such big birds and such a huge flock.

It seems as night caught them unprepared and they are landing here as an act of despair!
Darkness caught them before they could reach their destination.
The loud neighborhood dogs barks, including our Rex's doesn't scare them away.
Us being outside and filming them does not stop their attempts to find the right branches.
the sound of breaking limps at our yard is unheard of. They, the birds, made some strange distressed sounds - but they probably had no other choice - but to quickly settle for tonight on the nearest trees.
It is pitch dark now! the canopies are full with huge birds. from time to time I hear a loud sound of flipping wings.
I bet seeing them flying at dawn will be even greater!!! I will set up my clock to 4am so I can witness such. Not everyday I have such overnight guests in my yard!!!!
I just googled and found out that by their wings shape and their large wingspans it might be the Osprey...or Vulture? due to the dusk it was hard to determine the birds color.
It's relatively quite now. beside falling oak acorns from time to time no sound - no one can guess the big number of birds hiding in our canopies tonight.
Acorns are still falling...
Phenomena!!!
so 4am it is, or maybe earlier????

EXPEDITION AMAZON - Summer 2011 - DAY 1

On day 1 we raced up the Cotopaxi glacier reaching about seventeen thousand feet altitude, climbing its snow cap, where the oxygen content of the air is about half that at sea level and the head throb, still 2600 feet shy from its ridge. 5 steps - stop, 5 steps - stop...gasping for air. Is this the Amazon? We thought then, uneasily that we did not at all understand what we were getting into.

EXPEDITION AMAZON - Summer 2011 - DAY 2

Day 2 - the goal: Expedition begins at Baños, penetrates the Eastern Andes dramatic slopes down to Shell, the Gateway town to the Jungle, using all local means of progress. Today; Mountain biking.
From Baños at 1800 feet to the "Antenna" Observation Mountain at 11,000 feet we biked off road on a ragged terrain, up the cloud forest, under constant drizzling of rain and slippery slopes. climbing up with hopes to witness some Volcanic activity of Tungarahua - the majestic active volcano. Not today. Today it is quite, covered with clouds. Riding up and then down to Ulba town we were stopped by multiply Landslides and cracked paths that forced us to carry our bikes on our backs hugging the solid side of the mountains skimming across its narrow paths praying it will not cracked open under our feet. The mudslides we witnessed were of high magnitude, some of 1000 feet down the mountains, slide runs.
In the Israeli language today was the "Zubur" Initiation of our Expedition! Kriat-tachat!

Into the Wild - Surviving Mickey under the Elements.

Expedition Amazon summer of 2011 has begun. Joining me this time on a survival of the elements training adventure that take place in the deep rural jungles of the Amazon, are four US AF Academy grads; Kevin, Alex, David and Alan, all in a great physical fit and military style discipline. Also a young city guy, Matt, (will he survive the Jungle environment hardship)? and my friend Dana Allen, A firefighter Lieutenant in Central Florida and one of the firsts to introduce the X-treme challenge Adventure Races concept in Florida.

And myself, most of you know me by now, a veteran of the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) Special Forces specialist and a survival of the elements trainer, restless most of the time and a constant challenges seeker.
I'm taking with me today yet another small group of adventures seekers whom I'm going to challenge while pushing them to new limits and getting their adrenalin rush to high octane levels. Fitness and shape are known to be a must factors when dealing with an endless Jungle adventure under all elements, but that's not necessary the most important factor when it comes to survive with dignity (!!!) such adventure. Mental endurance and discipline are the key components. Will my June 2011 adventure team survive the jungle while holding up to their dignity? Will they survive me?

Follow us as our adventure takes shape. Track us virtually on Google Map and feel the excitement. Maybe I will have the honor to challenge you "boots on the ground" style, on my next adventure...

January 2011-Eco-Planet challenging exploration journey has begun!

EXPEDITION AMAZON 2011

Hello friends, fans, and E-PA team’s families!

At this time Eco-Planet challenging exploration journey has begun. We, back at home, are wishing all our team members an amazing adventure, filled with adrenalin rush and great discoveries!

Scouting uncharted grounds of the Amazon basin in Ecuador while pushing themselves to new limits is not something an average traveler will do! We greatly respect the enthusiasm and passion for nature by our Eco-Planet’s Adventurers team, and appreciate their adventure spirit that brought them here today.

With Mickey Grosman leading EXPEDITION AMAZON, we are confident that the team will experience an extraordinary journey! Mickey, the founder of ECO-PLANET ADVENTURE, his life experience and years of service in the IDF-Israeli Defense Special Forces, accompanied by his immense energy and endless courage prepared him to overcome all obstacles on his way to achieve such a dream-adventure. Months of preparations, logistic, innovations and creativity while staying in the rural jungle and living among the Amazon indigenous resulted in this amazing adventure we wish to share with you today.

From the snowcap glaciers of the Andes at 16,000 feet altitude, down to the remote jungle of the Amazon basin at about sea level, EXPEDITION AMAZON is all about daily challenges: The team do a fair amount of trekking, hiking in dense jungle environment, Mainly over raggedy terrain, climbing, off-road biking, white water rafting and rappelling breathtaking waterfall canyons. They ride primitive dugout canoes along the Amazon Basin Rivers, participate in our jungle survival training “boots on the ground” class, and interact with the remote Amazonian indigenous people. Endless wildlife specious, fauna and flora that the rainforest offers holds a great probability to be viewed by our team; Monkeys, parrots, tapirs, Pink dolphins, Piranhas and toucans, Anacondas and Jaguars, are only few to mention.

The Amazonian indigenous families that host E-PA team are fully involved in the journey’s daily activities and share with us their culture and life experience in the tropical rainforest. They are grateful of our visit at their land. The Eco-tourism program we at E-PA brought into their small remote communities is a new way that provides them with an alternative source of income and a direct economic incentive that benefitting as a result the local conservation of the Amazonian tropical rainforest. This journey today supports a great cause and helps in the long run to buy oxygen for our planet and for our future generations.

Track E-PA team as they go by interacting with SPOT shared page: http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=0fghaLYZenFGUT0n0s1S0nqtR6p1Gi5ae
